Literary Lions to Speak in Tulsa

T-town isn't known as a center of American letters, so it's great when the writers come to us.

Next up on the literary calendar is a visit by former poet laureate of the United States, Billy Collins. He'll be reading his work Thursday night at TU. The event is free and begins at 7:30 in the TU student center, 5th Place and Gary Avenue.

Collins is known for his accessibility, which is a fancy way of saying that his language and themes are easily understood by ordinary folks (that would be us).

Later in the month, OSU-Tulsa will host playwright Edward Albee, best known for his 1963 play Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? Albee, a three-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for drama, will speak at 7 p.m. on Tuesday April 14.

Tickets for Albee's talk are $10 for adults, $5 for students. The speech is sponsored by the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers. For tickets, call 918-594-8215.
