The Amazing Jim Inhofe 180: Oklahoma Senator Tries to Have It Both Ways

Sen. Jim Inhofe can't decide whether he's for government micromanagement of the federal bailout funds or against it.

Consider his recent statement on Tulsa's KTUL:

The AIG situation is clear evidence of what happens when you shovel money out the door with no strings attached and no transparency.

Ah, yes. Now the senator wants "strings attached." But that's not what he said in February when he made clear his opposition to federal "strings" because they interfere with free enterprise.

Here's Inhofe's quote from last month:

I thought, is this still America? Do we really tell people how to run [a business], and who to pay and how much to pay?

So which is it, Sen. Inhofe?

It would be wrong to characterize today's GOP as unprincipled. They operate strictly on this principle:

Will it give us political advantage?

Fortunately for the country, they are making their operating principle crystal clear to the voters.
