A versatile and energetic writer, Alexie has written poetry, fiction, and screenplays, including the script for the 1998 film Smoke Signals, which Rolling Stone said was "one of the best films of the year."
Writing yesterday in the Tulsa World, James D. Watts Jr. quoted Alexie on the humor in his work. "I didn't know I was going to be a funny writer," Alexie said. "I just started writing and people laughed."
Alexie's talk is called "The Business of Fancydancing: Poems, Stories, Punch Lines and Highly Biased Anecdotes." His talk is free and begins at 7 p.m.
