Oklahoma voters can always count on the state's Republican leaders to talk out of both sides of their mouths.
The latest example was the ceremony yesterday to mark the opening of the reopening of the Inner Dispersal Loop (IDL) in downtown Tulsa, a project paid for by federal funds.
Gov. Mary Fallin and Rep. John Sullivan were on hand to celebrate, which is totally disingenuous since both leaders voted against those very funds.
That's right, Sooner fans. Both Fallin and Sullivan whined and whined about the Obama Administration's stimulus package, the same package that rebuilt the IDL and provided jobs in Tulsa.
Sadly, this is par for the course for Fallin and Sullivan. They're quick to condemn federal spending and blame those crazy liberals for the national debt, but even quicker to take every federal handout they can, their conservative principles be damned.
Let's call it what it is: Republican hypocrisy.

Amen. What hypocrisy.... These guys voted AGAINST this but are the ones taking credit.
BULL. Liars.
Let's not forget:
"Oklahoma Republican Mary Fallin joined her Democratic colleague, Rep. Dan Boren, in asking Army Secretary Pete Geren to use $8.4 million in stimulus money for repairs to buildings at two Oklahoma National Guard sites.
Fallin had called the stimulus a "Big Brother spending program" that didn't do enough to finance needed infrastructure projects. The money she and Boren sought isn't in the Pentagon's spending plans."

Or this:
"Today's EPA announcement of $25 million in new spending means our relocation and cleanup efforts will be on an accelerated timeline. It's great news to see that we are speeding up the process as we reach the finish line," he (Sen. Inhofe) said. "This funding not only completes the relocation phase being conducted by the Lead Impacted Communities Relocation Assistance Trust but provides necessary funds to clean up this area."

As you know, Sen. Inhofe opposed the stimulus, yet was at the trough with the rest of the piggies - and at the paper squealing his accomplishments.
And Rep. Cole;
"Oklahoma Representative Tom Cole opposed the stimulus a year ago, calling it a 'recipe for disaster' instead of a road to recovery. In September, Cole sought funding for a grant to help develop an international trade center on a 2,700-acre industrial park, a project he called 'a catalyst for the potential creation' of almost 30,000 jobs. 'It is with pleasure that I write this letter in support of the Ardmore Development Authority,' Cole wrote. Cole didn't comment on the request after a series of e-mails to his office."

Republican hypocrisy indeed!
By the time Oklahoma voters have shifted to voting reliably Democratic, the GOP will have been out of power for so long that the Democrats will have become as corrupt and hypocritical as the Republicans are now. Always out of sync.
Hint: vote these jerks out now.
Agreed that it's hypocritical whilst noting two things:
1) Had they rejected these funds, you would certainly have roasted them for that.
2) It ain't like hypocrisy ain't bipartisan.
A year ago, I said this about false equivalency:
"MotW, I've seen you employ this particular defense mechanism repeatedly. It involves errors of scale.
"Example: Tom DeLay implemented a vast, overt system of corruption for the GOP, the 'K Street Project.' But Democrat Jefferson from Louisiana squirreled away some cold bribe cash in his fridge. Thus, according to your reckoning, the two parties are equivalent in their levels of corruption. Q.E.D."
Still goes. But this is a very common habit.
