Republicans vs. the Tea Party: It's Not Working Out

The anti-everything Tea Party gang is too extreme even for their conservative friends.

Here, for example, is how the Washington Post summed up the GOP House leadership's response to the Tea Party's slash-spending-no-matter-the-consequences position:
Having difficulty finding consensus within their own ranks, House Republican leaders have begun courting moderate Democrats on several key fiscal issues, including a deal to avoid a government shutdown at the end of next week.

...because more reasonable (read: politically savvy) Republicans fear political suicide and massive losses in 2012.

Similar splits are taking place in Oklahoma. The "social conservatives" like Randy Terrill hate the "business conservatives" like Kris Steel. (Terrill threatened to break Steel's one good leg.) The Tea Party groups have split with some loyal to Terrill and others loyal to Steel and Fallin.

I have to admit to being impressed. I had no idea that you were important enough to get instructions from the caucus, too.

The Democrats can't hold a candle to the daily talking points lockstep of the GOP and Fox.

And what's more, the Dems' talking points were actually true, something the GOP's can rarely boast of.
