Irony Alert: Newt Gingrich and the Religious Right

AltTulsa's nomination for the ironic headline of the day, courtesy of the Los Angeles Times:
Gingrich woes evangelicals as he eyes presidential bid
For those of you keeping score at home, Gingrich is hardly a model of Christian rectitude. His record as a husband, for example, is scandalous. In fact, Newt appears to be all about—surprise!—Newt.

As for the evangelicals, surely they can find a better example of moral living than the former Georgia legislator, whose character flaws and sins are outrageous and numerous.

"Gingrich woes evangelicals as he eyes presidential bid"

Does he woo them or woe them? He certainly woes me.

This could be the most exciting candidacy since Rudy Giuliani or Fred Thompson!

Gingrich is flogging his newly-acquired Catholicism, but isn't that missing the mark with the evangelical crowd?

Gingrich divorced his first wife when she was on her sickbed. He was already having an affair with #2 st the time.

When wife #2 was on HER sickbed, here came Newt again with another divorce, once again having already taken up with #3.

What a hoss for values voters to back!
