America is better than Glenn Beck. For all of his celebrity, Mr. Beck is an ignorant, divisive, pathetic figure. On the anniversary of the great 1963 March on Washington he will stand in the shadows of giants — Abraham Lincoln and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Who do you think is more representative of this nation?

Now that Beck's Idiocracy freakshow is over, insightful words from the Mahablog, including those of Eric Hoffer and Erich Fromm:
No Cause, Just a Movement
Another county heard from (Man of the West's):
MotW: "Well, Aaalllrrriiiiighty Then...
Ah keeps tellin' mahself, Ah reads that blog fer a reason..."
(FYI, this is Dogpatch dialect from the comic strip, "Li'l Abner." Dogpatch was an extremely poor and ignorant rural community.)
MotW: Okay, another in the list of funny ones from the-blog-that-shall-not-be-named:
(MotW refers to this very blog. Odd that he doesn't name it or link to it, though he often lauds its entertainment value. Is this a slight to his reader(s)?)
MotW: By now, everyone knows that John McCain won a big victory in his primary race against J.D. Hayworth. This, according to the aforementioned bloggers, shows how tea-party values just aren't as powerful as some people think."

To partially agree with Mr. West, the Tea Partiers have demonstrated they have to power to knock out more moderate Republicans than themselves.
They are winning the battle for the Dogpatch faction of the GOP, though General Bullmooses (Murdoch, Armey, the Kochs, etc.) are bankrolling them.
But many observers see the Tea Party candidates as weaker against the Democrats than the less extreme Republicans (e.g., Angle vs. Reid in Nevada.)
Can the Bullmooses induce independents to go along with their gag? The voting booth will tell the tale.
In the mean time, the GOP is spending lots of their money running against themselves.
Will Beck or Palin come to be seen as the Joe Btfsplk of the Dogpatch, er, Teabagger "movement"?
