Science Update: Skeleton Provides Glimpse into Primate Past

The AT team is all about ideas, even ideas in such things as evolutionary science. That's why we perked up when we saw this story in today's New York Times.

Here's the lead, which suggests some fascinating new research:
NEW YORK (AP) -- The nearly complete and remarkably preserved skeleton of a small, 47 million-year-old creature found in Germany was displayed Tuesday by scientists who said it would help illuminate the evolutionary roots of monkeys, apes and humans. Experts praised the discovery for the level of detail it provided but said it was far from a breakthrough that would solve the puzzles of early evolution.
The full story (and an amazing photo) are on the Times website.

Must be another Piltdown Man, because the universe is only 6K yrs old.

The Milky Way galaxy's neighbor, the Andromeda galaxy, appears to scientists to be about 2.5 million light-years away.

To the untutored, it would seem that this entails an age of the universe of at least 2.5 million years, as it would take that long for photons to reach earth from Andromeda.

But the truth is that God put those photons in place 6K light-years from the earth so that they would APPEAR to have come from a farther distance.

Either that, or He set up some tricky Riemannian geometrical dodge, sufficient to fool astronomers into believing the universe is around 13.5 billion years, rather than the correct figure of 6K.

That way, He can sort out the bad people who rely on their lying eyes and brains versus what they are told.

The Hubble telescope? The devil's workshop.
