Headlines We'd Rather Not Read: Ice Storms Strike Again

One year ago this time, Tulsans were still living with the cold and dark of the Great Ice Storm of 2007.

Tulsa has escaped the ice so far this year (knock on wood), but no such luck in New England.

Here's a bit of a Reuters report on the troubles way up east:
Ice storms knock power out across NY, New England

NEW YORK—A powerful snow and ice storm knocked out power to near 1 million homes and businesses across New York and New England on Friday, closing roads and forcing the state of Mains to shut government offices.

"This is a very, very serious situation right now," New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch said after declaring an emergency in his state, where as many as 230,000 lost power in what local authorities describe as the worst outages in three decades."
Sounds familiar, doesn't it? We think we can speak for thousands of Tulsa-area residents in wishing our New England neighbors warmer weather soon, very soon.
